I'm coming up for air from this pool of resentment,
Resigning myself from an upset past.
Slicing away these remnants of pettiness,
I'm peeling away the dead skin of the past year.
I begin anew,
Not with a clean slate,
But with a repertoire of lessons learned.
I begin anew,
Not completely different,
But not totally the same.
I begin anew.
